Working within the production.Standing alongside the young performer.

The Advocate understands the pace, pressures and creative process of production. They know how to communicate effectively within that environment — consulting, briefing and raising concerns with the right people, at the right time, in ways that are clear, proportionate and minimally disruptive to the work.

At the same time, the Advocate builds a trusted, consistent relationship with the young performer and maintains a clear and independent responsibility to their safety, wellbeing and voice.

The Advocate

Specialist expertise. Independent responsibility. Safer production.

Young Performer

A trusted and consistent professional relationship.

Preparation, relational safety, voice, assent, advocacy.

Child safety, built into the work.

A distinct role.A missing piece.

Productions already bring in specialist expertise where particular knowledge and safeguards are needed. Young performers deserve the same intentional approach to their safety and wellbeing.

A Child Safety & Wellbeing Advocate brings expertise that is distinct from — and complementary to — the roles of parents and guardians, studio teachers and tutors, intimacy coordinators, and other members of the production team.

One role. A clear responsibility: keeping the young performer's safety, wellbeing and voice present throughout the work.

A distinct role.

A missing piece.

A clear responsibility.

Young performers deserve the same intentional approach to their safety and wellbeing.
